Erling Haaland has committed his future to Manchester City by signing a new 10-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2034. The 24-year-old Norwegian striker, who joined City in 2022 from Borussia Dortmund, aims to build a lasting legacy with the English champions.
“I am super proud and happy, and I am looking forward to staying here for a long time,” Haaland said in a statement. “It was an easy decision. Now I can fully focus on getting better because I am going to stay here for such a long time.”
Haaland’s original contract was set to expire in June 2027, but the new deal extends his commitment to the club well into his 30s. Since his arrival, he has been a goal-scoring sensation, netting 111 goals in 126 matches. In his debut season under manager Pep Guardiola, he helped Manchester City secure a historic treble, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.
Breaking records has become a habit for Haaland. He scored 36 goals in his first Premier League campaign and a total of 52 goals in all competitions that season. With 79 league goals in just 87 appearances, he is on pace to challenge Alan Shearer’s long-standing record of 260 Premier League goals.
Despite ongoing investigations into Manchester City’s alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules, Haaland remains unfazed and fully committed to the club. The potential outcomes of the investigation include fines, point deductions, or other penalties, but the club has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
With Guardiola also extending his contract until 2027, Haaland is eager to continue his development under the Spaniard’s guidance. Guardiola has led Manchester City to 18 trophies since taking charge in 2016, and the duo hopes to add even more silverware in the coming years.
