President Xi Visits Flood-Hit Villagers in Northeast China’s Liaoning Province

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on Wednesday braved freezing temperatures to visit flood-affected residents in Liaoning Province’s Huludao City.

Ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival, which falls on January 29 this year, Xi traveled to Zhujiagou village in Suizhong County. The village was severely impacted by the devastating summer floods of 2024, leaving many residents displaced.

During his visit, Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster reconstruction efforts. He walked through the village, met with locals who had recently moved into their new homes, and personally inquired about the quality of the rebuilt houses. He asked whether their daily needs were being met and if they were prepared for the winter months.

Xi emphasized the significance of restoring normalcy to the lives of those affected by the floods. He assured the villagers that the government would continue to support them in rebuilding their homes and livelihoods.

“Our priority is to ensure that every family can celebrate the Spring Festival in a warm and safe environment,” Xi told the villagers. “Together, we will overcome these challenges and build a better future.”

The visit showcased the government’s commitment to aiding disaster-stricken areas and highlighted the importance of unity and resilience in the face of adversity.
