China Remains Unbeaten in Curling Mixed Doubles at Asian Winter Games

China’s curling mixed doubles team continued their dominant performance at the ninth Asian Winter Games, securing their third consecutive victory in Harbin, northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, on Wednesday. The duo of Han Yu and Wang Zhiyu defeated the Philippines’ Marc Pfister and Kathleen Dubberstein with a score of 9-6.

Earlier in the day, Han and Wang faced Kyrgyzstan’s pair, Amina Seitzhanova and Iskhak Abykeev. The match started evenly with both teams scoring one point each in the first two ends. China then pulled ahead by scoring two points in the third end and stealing another two in the fourth. Despite Kyrgyzstan’s attempt to rally by securing two points in the fifth end, China maintained their lead and clinched the match 8-3.

In their second game, the Chinese duo quickly established a commanding 8-0 lead against the Philippines by the halfway mark. Although Pfister and Dubberstein fought back, winning the fifth and seventh ends to narrow the gap to three points, Han and Wang held their ground. A perfect double takeout by the Chinese team led to the Filipinos conceding defeat.

Elsewhere in the competition, Japan extended their winning streak to three by defeating Hong Kong 9-3. South Korea showcased impressive form, overpowering Kazakhstan 12-0 and Qatar 14-1. Chinese Taipei also secured victories against Kuwait 13-3 and Mongolia 8-4.
