China Concludes Asian Winter Games with Medals in Curling and Ice Hockey

Chinese athletes concluded their journey at the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, on Friday, adding one silver and two bronze medals to their tally on the final day of competitions.

In men’s curling, the hosts secured a bronze medal by defeating Hong Kong, China, with a score of 10-3. This victory marked China’s 25th bronze medal in the Games. The gold medal went to the Philippines, who achieved a stunning 5-3 upset over South Korea in the final, earning their first-ever Asian Winter Games title.

On the women’s side, China faced a tough defeat against South Korea, losing 7-2 in the curling final. Despite the loss, China’s silver medal contributed to their impressive total of 27 silvers at the event. In the battle for bronze, Japan triumphed over Kazakhstan with a 6-3 victory.

The men’s ice hockey final saw Kazakhstan avenge their earlier loss by dominating Japan with a 5-0 win to claim the title. South Korea secured the bronze medal after a 5-2 victory over China.

Concluding the Games, the women’s ice hockey competitions wrapped up with Japan overwhelming China 8-1 in their final match to clinch the gold medal. Kazakhstan took the silver after defeating South Korea 3-0, while the hosts earned the bronze.

The 9th Asian Winter Games showcased thrilling performances and historic victories, highlighting the growing talent across the continent in winter sports.
