Chinese Premier Li Qiang has called for a significant boost in scientific and technological innovation across frontier and emerging sectors. On Tuesday, he visited China Telecom, China Unicom, and China Mobile—the nation’s three leading telecom operators—to emphasize the importance of these industries in driving the country’s high-quality development.
During his tour, Premier Li urged the companies to accelerate research and development in key areas, striving for original technological breakthroughs. He highlighted the need to integrate the digital economy with the real economy and to enhance the construction of new-type infrastructure.
“Efforts should be made to quicken technological research and standards development on 6G while accelerating the large-scale application of 5G,” Premier Li stated. He also called for better services for private firms and medium and small-sized enterprises, recognizing their vital role in the economy.
