The runaway success of the animated film Ne Zha 2 has ignited a wave of enthusiasm across China. In Binzhou, Shandong Province, traditional paper-cutting artist Lin Feifei is blending this modern craze with centuries-old folk art.
Lin, an inheritor of time-honored paper-cutting techniques, has created a series of intricate artworks featuring beloved characters from the movie, including Ne Zha, Shen Gongbao, and Ao Bing. By incorporating contemporary themes into her pieces, she is breathing new life into this ancient art form.
“I wanted to connect the younger generation with our rich cultural heritage,” Lin said. “By using characters they love, I hope to make paper cutting more appealing and accessible.”
Her innovative creations have been warmly received, reflecting the growing influence of Chinese animation on the creative industries. Lin’s work not only preserves traditional craftsmanship but also bridges the gap between classic and modern art, resonating with audiences both young and old.
