The U.S. military carried out new airstrikes in Yemen’s northern province of Saada on Tuesday night, according to Houthi-run al-Masirah TV. The strikes targeted the Takhyah area in the Majz district, northwest of Saada, the report said, without providing further details.
There have been no immediate reports of casualties, and the U.S. has not issued a response regarding the strikes.
The incident follows claims by the Houthi group earlier in the day that they launched a ‘Palestine-2’ hypersonic missile towards the Nevatim Air Base in Israel. The Houthi group stated the missile “successfully achieved its goal.”
In response, the Israeli military announced that the missile was “intercepted by the Israeli Air Force before crossing into Israeli territory.”
Tensions have been escalating in the region, with the United States conducting airstrikes on Yemen last Saturday after stating intentions to continue attacks until the Houthis cease operations affecting Red Sea shipping routes.
Meanwhile, Houthi leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi delivered a televised speech on Tuesday, threatening to “resume escalation at its highest levels” against Israel if the renewed Israeli assault on Gaza does not stop.
Early Tuesday, Israel launched extensive airstrikes across Gaza, resulting in over 400 fatalities and disrupting a fragile ceasefire that had been in place since January 19. The international community has widely condemned the airstrikes, urging restraint and a return to negotiations.
The situation remains volatile, with concerns growing over the potential for further escalation affecting the broader region.
