Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Italy’s Senate President Ignazio La Russa in Beijing on Tuesday, marking a significant step towards strengthening China-Italy relations.
Han Zheng highlighted the successful meetings between the leaders of the two countries last year, emphasizing the important consensus reached that guides the development of their bilateral ties. He noted that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Italy.
“China is ready to work with Italy to develop a more mature, stable, open, and mutually beneficial relationship from a strategic and long-term perspective,” Han said. He expressed China’s willingness to deepen cooperation in various fields, including economy, trade, tourism, culture, education, and sports, aiming to bring more tangible benefits to both peoples.
Ignazio La Russa conveyed his admiration for the vitality and achievements of China’s development during his visit. He expressed Italy’s eagerness to strengthen all-round friendly cooperation with China. “As two ancient civilizations, our countries can make new contributions to world peace and development,” La Russa stated.
The meeting signifies a mutual commitment to enhancing collaboration and fostering a strategic partnership between China and Italy.
