Between Friday and Monday, the China Coast Guard (CCG) expelled several Japanese fishing vessels that had entered China’s territorial waters around the Diaoyu Dao without permission, according to an official statement on Monday.
CCG spokesperson Liu Dejun said that coast guard vessels took necessary and lawful actions to manage and control the situation, warning the Japanese vessels and driving them out of the area.
“The Diaoyu Dao and its affiliated islands are China’s inherent territory,” Liu declared. “We urge the Japanese side to immediately stop all illegal activities in these waters.”
Liu added that the CCG will continue regular patrols in the territorial waters of the Diaoyu Dao to protect China’s sovereignty and maritime rights.
