Chinese table tennis players made a strong start at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions Incheon, securing four victories in the opening round held in South Korea.
World No. 9 Lin Gaoyuan showcased his resilience in the men’s singles, coming from behind to defeat Denmark’s Jonathan Groth 3-1. After dropping the first game 7-11, Lin adjusted his strategy to take the next three games 11-6, 12-10, and 11-9, earning his place in the round of 16.
Xiang Peng continued China’s winning streak by sweeping Egypt’s Omar Assar in straight sets with scores of 11-6, 11-8, and a thrilling 16-14 finish in the third game.
However, Xue Fei faced a tough match against Lin Yun-ju of Chinese Taipei, falling 1-3 with scores of 9-11, 11-3, 13-11, and 11-5.
In the women’s singles, top seed Wang Yidi dominated her match against Cheng I-Ching of Chinese Taipei, winning convincingly with scores of 11-7, 11-2, and 11-5. Qian Tianyi also advanced by defeating India’s Manika Batra in four games, posting scores of 11-2, 8-11, 11-3, and 11-6.
The Chinese team looks poised to continue their strong performance as the tournament progresses, showcasing their skill on the international stage.
