International Journalists Marvel at China’s Longmen Grottoes

Twenty-seven journalists from Latin American and Caribbean countries embarked on an unforgettable journey to China’s Henan Province, exploring the rich tapestry of Chinese civilization. As part of the ‘Journey to Chinese Civilization: Henan’ cultural program, their adventure reached its pinnacle at the majestic Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang.

Carved into limestone cliffs since 493 AD, the Longmen Grottoes stand as a testament to over four centuries of devotion and artistry. With more than 2,300 caves and niches, around 2,800 inscriptions, over 70 pagodas, and an astonishing 110,000 statues, the site left the journalists in awe.

“Visiting the Longmen Grottoes feels like gazing into the eyes of history,” said Quinn St. Juste, a journalist from Barbados Today. “It’s incredible how ancient China comes to life here. This experience has given us profound insights into the cultural and spiritual depth of Chinese civilization.”

The grandeur and intricate artistry of the grottoes have not only earned them UNESCO World Heritage status but also captured the hearts of visitors worldwide. For these journalists, the visit was more than sightseeing; it was a cultural exchange bridging continents and generations.

The journey through Henan Province offered a unique opportunity for these international storytellers to connect with China’s ancient heritage, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of shared human history.
