China Supports Iran’s Commitment to Nuclear Dialogue, Says Wang Yi

Brasilia, October 25 — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has expressed China’s support for Iran’s commitment to pursuing dialogue on its nuclear program. Speaking on Wednesday during a meeting with Ali Akbar Ahmadian, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Wang emphasized the importance of diplomatic efforts to resolve nuclear issues.

Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, lauded Iran’s willingness to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). “China values Iran’s commitment to not pursuing nuclear weapons and respects its right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy,” Wang stated.

Ahmadian reiterated Iran’s stance, affirming that the nation has no intention of developing nuclear weapons. He expressed Iran’s readiness to engage in negotiations with relevant parties based on equality and mutual respect. “Iran and China enjoy strong political mutual trust,” Ahmadian noted, highlighting the consensus in Iran to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership with China.

The two officials agreed to maintain open communication on the nuclear issue, aiming to foster stability and peace in the region. Wang Yi emphasized that China supports Iran in safeguarding its sovereignty and opposes external interference in Iran’s internal affairs. He expressed China’s willingness to enhance collaboration with Iran across various sectors, including economy, trade, science, technology, and connectivity.

“Under the strategic guidance of our two heads of state, China-Iran relations have maintained positive momentum despite external challenges,” Wang said. “We are committed to building a more resilient comprehensive strategic partnership.”

Ahmadian expressed gratitude to China for its support on the international stage, particularly in facilitating Iran’s recent rapprochement with Saudi Arabia. He stated that Iran is ready to work with China to oppose external interference, reject arbitrary tariffs and unilateral sanctions, and uphold a fair and equitable international order.

The meeting in Brasilia signifies a strengthening of ties between China and Iran, with both nations emphasizing multilateralism and cooperation to address global challenges.
