Chinese President Xi Jinping has wrapped up his state visit to Russia, departing from Moscow on Saturday after attending events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic War.
As he prepared to leave, President Xi was seen off at the airport by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and other senior Russian officials. A farewell ceremony featured the national anthems of China and Russia performed by a military band, and President Xi inspected a guard of honor before boarding his plane.
In a symbolic gesture of friendship, Russian Air Force fighter jets escorted President Xi’s plane as it took off from Moscow.
The streets leading to the airport were lined with local residents, representatives of Chinese enterprises, and Chinese overseas students. Waving the national flags of China and Russia, they gathered to warmly congratulate President Xi on his successful visit, highlighting the close ties between the two nations.
