Flick Barca Will Rebound from Inter Loss Against Madrid in El Clasico

Barcelona Look to Rebound Against Real Madrid in Decisive El Clasico

Coach Xavi Hernandez knows there’s no better remedy for Barcelona’s recent European disappointment than a victory over arch-rivals Real Madrid in the decisive El Clasico.

“After the setback in Europe, we need to show our strength,” Xavi said on Saturday, ahead of Sunday’s clash at Camp Nou. “The Clasico is crucial for us to regain confidence and demonstrate how good we can be.”

Barcelona were eliminated from European competition after a tough match against Inter Milan. Now, they turn their focus to La Liga, where they hold a four-point lead over Real Madrid.

A win on Sunday would not only extend their lead but also mark a significant achievement for Xavi in his first season as Barcelona’s head coach. The Catalan giants have won all three Clasicos this season across all competitions, including a recent victory in the Copa del Rey.

Xavi confirmed that left-back Alejandro Balde and striker Robert Lewandowski are fit and may feature. “They are available and could get minutes in the second half,” he said.

Lewandowski, who leads Barcelona with 40 goals this season, has recovered from a thigh injury. His return could be pivotal in securing a result against Madrid.

On the other side, Real Madrid’s coach Carlo Ancelotti addressed rumors about his future and praised former Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso, who is making waves as a coach in Germany.

“I read that Xabi is doing a fantastic job at Bayer Leverkusen,” Ancelotti said. “He has all the doors open because he’s shown he’s one of the best coaches in the world.”

Ancelotti emphasized his enduring connection with Real Madrid. “The honeymoon with this club never ends,” he said. “My bond with Real Madrid will last as long as I live.”

Despite being under contract through next season, speculation about Ancelotti’s future continues, especially with reports linking him to the Brazil national team.

Sunday’s El Clasico promises high stakes, with both teams eager to assert dominance and, for Barcelona, a chance to inch closer to the La Liga title.
