China Brazil Issue Joint Statement on Ukraine Crisis

China and Brazil Urge Immediate Peace Talks in Ukraine Crisis

In a significant move to promote peace, China and Brazil have teamed up to urge Russia and Ukraine to start talking directly. They believe that open dialogue is the only way to end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. On Tuesday, the two nations released a joint statement welcoming Russian President Vladimir Putin’s offer to begin peace talks and praised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s positive response.

“We hope Russia and Ukraine will begin direct dialogue as soon as possible,” the statement read. “This is the only way to end the conflict.”

China and Brazil applauded recent signs that both sides are willing to engage in dialogue. They called on all parties involved to kick off meaningful negotiations, build stronger consensus, and work towards a political solution that addresses everyone’s legitimate concerns.

They emphasized the need to look at the root causes of the crisis to find a lasting solution. Their goal is a fair, lasting, and binding peace agreement that brings stability to the region.

To further this goal, China and Brazil called on all relevant parties to create conditions conducive to resuming dialogue. They also launched the Group of Friends for Peace at the United Nations, aiming to unite countries of the Global South in support of peace efforts.

“China and Brazil are ready to work with the rest of the Global South to continue making active efforts to resolve the crisis,” the statement concluded.
