China and Brazil Strengthen Ties as Top Officials Meet in Beijing

China’s top legislator Zhao Leji met with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in Beijing on Tuesday, signaling a push to strengthen ties between the two nations.

Zhao, who serves as the chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, expressed China’s eagerness to deepen strategic collaboration with Brazil. He emphasized the desire to enrich the China-Brazil community with a shared future.

“The NPC is willing to work with the Brazilian Congress to implement the important consensus reached between our countries’ leaders,” Zhao said. “We aim to enhance exchanges in legislative and supervisory experiences and provide legal guarantees for practical cooperation.”

President Lula, on his visit to Beijing, highlighted the significance of the relationship between the two countries. “Brazil is ready to collaborate with China to share governance experiences, support multilateralism and free trade, oppose protectionism, tackle climate change, and build a shared future between our nations,” he stated.

The meeting underscores the growing partnership between China and Brazil, two of the world’s largest developing countries. Their cooperation spans various fields, including trade, technology, and environmental initiatives, which are crucial for young people and future generations.
