President Xi Urges Innovation and Cultural Growth in Henan Visit

President Xi Jinping has called for unwavering confidence in promoting high-quality development and enhancing governance during his recent visit to Henan Province in central China. Over two days, he toured the cities of Luoyang and Zhengzhou, encouraging the region to contribute to Chinese modernization.

On Monday afternoon, President Xi visited Luoyang Bearing Group Co., Ltd., which has its roots in a factory established during China’s first Five-Year Plan (1953-1957). Emphasizing the importance of manufacturing as a cornerstone of the national economy, he stated, “Modern manufacturing relies on sci-tech empowerment.” He urged greater efforts to achieve breakthroughs in core technologies and to pursue independent innovation.

President Xi also explored the White Horse Temple, originally built during the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220). There, he learned about adapting Buddhism to the Chinese context and local efforts in preserving cultural relics. At the Longmen Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage site over 1,500 years old and renowned for its magnificent stone carvings, he highlighted the significance of preserving and promoting China’s cultural treasures.

He noted the immense potential in combining culture and tourism, calling for the high-quality development of the sector to transform it into a pillar industry that enhances people’s lives.

Concluding his visit, President Xi urged Henan Province to focus on building a modern industrial system, strengthening agricultural capacity, improving people’s well-being and social governance, enhancing ecological and environmental protection, and promoting cultural prosperity.
