China and Indonesia Strengthen Ties on Path to Shared Modernization

Chinese Premier Li Qiang arrived in Jakarta on Saturday, expressing China’s readiness to work with Indonesia to enhance their partnership and jointly pursue modernization.

In a statement upon his arrival, Li highlighted the enduring friendship between China and Indonesia, noting that the two nations are close neighbors across the sea and trusted partners.

“China stands ready to work with Indonesia to continuously enrich our comprehensive strategic partnership and jointly advance along the path to modernization,” Li said.

He emphasized that bilateral ties have witnessed sustained and robust development, with practical cooperation delivering substantial outcomes.

Li’s visit comes ahead of meetings with Indonesian President Joko Widodo and other leaders, where they are expected to discuss deepening all-round strategic cooperation.

He also noted the significance of the Bandung Conference, marking its 68th anniversary this year.

“The Bandung Spirit of solidarity, friendship, and cooperation has long guided the independent development of countries in Asia and Africa,” Li said. “In a world undergoing accelerated changes unseen in a century, China and Indonesia should further carry forward the Bandung Spirit, strengthen solidarity, and promote true multilateralism.”

During his visit, Li will also attend events hosted by the business community.
