At least nine people were killed in Ukraine overnight from Saturday into Sunday as Russian forces launched a series of strikes across the country, officials reported. The attacks come amid ongoing exchanges of fire between Kyiv and Moscow, highlighting the escalating tensions in the region.
In the western Khmelnytskyi region, four people lost their lives when Russian missiles targeted civilian infrastructure. Sergiy Tyurin, the deputy head of the regional military administration, expressed sorrow over the fatalities. “Last night, the Khmelnytskyi region came under hostile Russian fire, which resulted in the destruction of civilian infrastructure… Unfortunately, four people were killed,” Tyurin stated in a Telegram post. He also reported that five others were wounded in the attack.
The Kyiv region, experiencing its second consecutive night of attacks, also reported four fatalities. Local authorities are assessing the damage and continuing rescue operations. In the southern city of Mykolaiv, one person was killed as a result of the strikes, adding to the growing list of casualties.
The overnight assaults underscore the severe impact of the conflict on Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure. As prisoner swaps and diplomatic efforts continue, the exchanges of fire between Ukraine and Russia show little sign of abating. The international community watches closely, urging for a de-escalation and a move toward peaceful resolution.
