The 13th International Cultural Festival at Tsinghua University kicked off on May 24 with a vibrant celebration of cultural exchange. A highlight of the event was the Indonesian Embassy Open Day, where students from around the world gathered to explore the rich traditions and future aspirations of Indonesia.
Parulian George Andreas Silalahi, deputy director of the Indonesian Embassy in China, delivered a compelling keynote speech. He reflected on the 75 years of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia, emphasizing cooperation across politics, economy, trade, and culture. His insights resonated deeply with the audience, igniting enthusiasm for the continued partnership between the two nations.
Celia Annetta, an Indonesian student at Tsinghua University, shared her personal experiences during the event. “China has become Indonesia’s largest trading partner,” she noted. “We’ve seen successful collaborations in railway construction, palm oil and mineral trade, and the development of new energy vehicles.”
Annetta highlighted the growing number of Indonesian students pursuing education in China. “It’s inspiring to see so many young people eager to learn and contribute to our countries’ shared future,” she said. “As an Indonesian student in China, I sincerely hope we can continue to work together to build a brighter future.”
This sentiment comes at a pivotal time, as Chinese Premier Li Qiang is on an official visit to Indonesia from May 24 to 26, at the invitation of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The visit underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthen ties and foster opportunities for the next generation.
