Kenyan President Ruto Hails Strengthened Ties with China During State Visit

Kenyan President William Ruto has hailed the strengthened ties between Kenya and China during his recent state visit to the Chinese mainland from April 22 to 26. In an exclusive interview with CMG’s Wang Guan on “Leaders Talk,” Ruto emphasized the “wholesomeness” of the relationship that has been elevated to a “China-Kenya community with a shared future for the new era.”

Since 1963, the two nations have maintained strong and supportive relations, enabling Kenya to build a vast network of public infrastructure and unlock its economic potential. Ruto highlighted how this partnership has been instrumental in advancing Kenya’s development goals.

“Our relationship with China has been mutually beneficial,” Ruto stated. “Together, we have made significant strides in infrastructure, education, and technology, paving the way for a brighter future for our people.”

The Kenyan leader also addressed global trade challenges, criticizing U.S.-led tariff wars and advocating for multilateralism as essential for protecting global trade. “The globalization of trade is an existential imperative,” Ruto remarked. “We must work together to eliminate barriers and promote fair trade practices for the prosperity of all nations.”

President Ruto’s visit marks a significant step in reinforcing the longstanding friendship between Kenya and China, setting the stage for continued collaboration and shared growth in the new era.
