Russian Investigator Classifies Bridge Collapses As terrorist Attack

Deadly Bridge Collapses in Russia Blamed on Terror Attacks

Russian investigators have classified recent bridge collapses in the border regions of Bryansk and Kursk as terrorist attacks, following explosions that derailed trains and caused multiple casualties.

On Sunday, the Russian Investigative Committee announced that criminal cases have been initiated regarding these incidents, which have shocked local communities. “These incidents have been classified as acts of terrorism,” said committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko.

In the Bryansk region, an explosion late at night caused a road bridge on the Vygonichi-Pilshino railway section to collapse. The incident, which occurred at 10:50 p.m. on May 31, led to a passenger train carrying 388 people derailing. Tragically, seven people lost their lives, and 66 others were injured, according to Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz.

In the neighboring Kursk region, another explosion on a railway bridge caused a passing train to fall onto the road below, injuring the driver and two assistants.

The Investigative Committee is working diligently to uncover who is behind these attacks. The incidents have raised serious security concerns, prompting authorities to heighten vigilance and implement enhanced safety measures across transportation networks.

These attacks have not only disrupted train services but also instilled fear in residents who rely on these routes for daily travel. The government is urging the public to remain calm while investigations continue.
