Former Chinese Military Leader Xu Qiliang Dies at 75
Former high-ranking Chinese military official Xu Qiliang passed away at the age of 75 due to illness in Beijing at 12:12 p.m. on Monday, according to an official statement.
Xu had a distinguished career in China’s military, serving as a member of the Political Bureau of the 18th and 19th Central Committees of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and as vice chairman of the Central Military Commission. He was recognized as an exemplary CPC member, a dedicated soldier, a military strategist, and an outstanding leader of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
Joining the PLA in July 1966, Xu became a CPC member a year later in July 1967. His decades-long service culminated in receiving the rank of Air Force General in June 2007.
