The Shenzhen Kunlun Red Star have defended their title, defeating Qiqihar Landi 2-0 in the Chinese Women’s Ice Hockey League championship game on Wednesday. The thrilling match unfolded in Harbin, northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province.
Qiqihar Landi, the only team to have ever beaten Shenzhen since the league’s inception in 2023, couldn’t recreate their previous success this time. Just four minutes into the second period, Hunter Barnett set up a stunning long-range goal for Zhao Qi’nan, putting Shenzhen ahead 1-0.
The defending champions maintained their momentum when Wen Lu slammed a rebound into the net with 13 minutes left in the third period. Boasting an impressive season with 23 wins and only one loss, Shenzhen lifted the trophy once again as the league’s best-performing team.
This victory cements Shenzhen Kunlun Red Star’s dominance in Chinese women’s ice hockey, marking their second consecutive championship win and a remarkable season record.
