Kenyan athlete Beatrice Chebet stunned the athletics world on Friday, delivering the second fastest women’s 5,000-meter time in history at the Rome Diamond League meet. Chebet clocked an impressive 14:03.69, inching closer to the world record of 14:00.21 set by Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay two years ago.

Chebet’s performance not only surpassed her previous personal best of 14:05.92, achieved during the race where Tsegay set the world record, but also solidifies her standing as one of the leading distance runners globally. Known for her remarkable endurance and speed, the Olympic champion continues to push the boundaries of women’s long-distance running.

The Golden Gala in Rome also witnessed American sprinter Trayvon Bromell blazing to victory in the men’s 100m, posting a world-leading time of 9.84 seconds. Additionally, two-time Olympic champion Valarie Allman of the United States set a meet record in the discus throw with a remarkable distance of 69.21 meters.
