The Chinese and U.S. delegations concluded two days of “professional, rational, in-depth, and candid” economic and trade discussions in London, according to a senior Chinese official.
Li Chenggang, China’s international trade representative and vice minister of commerce, briefed the press on Tuesday following the first meeting of the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism in the UK capital.
“We hope that the progress made at this meeting will strengthen trust between China and the United States,” Li said. “It will further promote the steady and healthy development of economic and trade ties between our two countries.”
Li added that the meeting brings “positive energy” to global economic growth, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the world’s two largest economies.
The talks in London mark a significant step in ongoing efforts to ease trade tensions and foster cooperation on economic issues. Both sides expressed optimism about future engagements.
