Beijing, Oct. 23 — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday called on the nation’s youth to learn from veteran leader Chen Yun and to carry forward his legacy of hard work and enterprising spirit to build a strong China.
Speaking at a commemorative event in the Great Hall of the People marking the 120th anniversary of Chen Yun’s birth, President Xi highlighted the importance of remembering the contributions of past leaders in shaping China’s future.
“We must honor Chen Yun’s dedication and commitment to the nation,” Xi said. “By embracing his spirit, we can continue to drive China’s development and achieve new milestones.”
Chen Yun, born in 1905, joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1925. Recognized as a great revolutionary and statesman, he was pivotal in establishing China’s socialist economy. Chen served as a key member of both the CPC’s first generation of central leadership with Mao Zedong at the core and the second generation with Deng Xiaoping at the core.
President Xi emphasized the need for the new generation to uphold the values and principles that leaders like Chen Yun embodied. “The future of China lies in the hands of our youth. By learning from the pioneers who came before us, we can build a nation that is prosperous, strong, and unified,” he stated.
The event served as a reminder of the significant role historical figures have played in China’s journey and the continued relevance of their teachings in today’s rapidly changing world.
