Thousands Rally in LA Against Immigration Raids and Authoritarianism

Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Los Angeles on Saturday in a “No Kings” protest, voicing their opposition to immigration raids and what organizers describe as a shift toward authoritarianism under President Donald Trump. The protests coincided with Flag Day and President Trump’s 79th birthday, as he hosted a military-style parade in Washington, D.C.

Marchers filled downtown LA, carrying banners and chanting slogans advocating for immigrant rights and democratic values. One protester remarked, “Our country was made up of immigrants to begin with. The Statue of Liberty invited everybody in. All these unconstitutional and unlawful stances are really getting to be enough.”

The “No Kings” movement reflects growing concern among many Americans about policies they feel undermine the nation’s founding principles. By choosing Flag Day for their demonstration, protesters aimed to reclaim patriotic symbols and highlight their vision of a more inclusive America.

Similar protests were held across California and other parts of the country, signaling widespread discontent with current immigration policies and fears of increasing authoritarianism. Participants hope their voices will bring attention to these issues and inspire positive change.
