China Tourism Year Kicks Off in Kazakhstan with Silk Road Exhibition

Astana, Kazakhstan—The China Tourism Year in Kazakhstan officially launched on Monday at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, marking a new chapter in cultural exchange between the two nations. The grand opening ceremony drew around 300 guests from both countries.

Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism Sun Yeli and Kazakh Minister of Tourism and Sports Yermek Marzhikpayev attended the event, delivering speeches that highlighted the growing friendship and cooperation between China and Kazakhstan.

A highlight of the opening was the unveiling of the exhibition “Silk and the Silk Road: From China to Kazakhstan.” The exhibition delves into the rich history and cultural significance of the ancient trade route that connected East and West.

Divided into three sections—”Origin of Silk“, “Road of Silk“, and “Use of Silk“—the exhibition showcases precious silk artifacts, ancient trading tools, and interactive displays. Visitors can explore the evolution of silk production and its impact on cross-cultural exchanges throughout history.

“The exhibition aims to showcase the historical depth and development of Silk Road culture,” said one of the organizers. “It highlights the friendly exchanges and cultural integration between China and countries along the Silk Road.”

In addition to the exhibition, the opening ceremony featured vibrant cultural performances, a Hanfu fashion show displaying traditional Chinese attire, and hands-on experiences with intangible cultural heritage crafts.

The China National Silk Museum and the National Museum of Kazakhstan also signed a memorandum of cooperation, paving the way for future collaborations in cultural preservation and education.

The “Silk and the Silk Road” exhibition will run until August 8, offering visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the legacy of the Silk Road and its lasting influence on both nations.
