In a rare display of unity, twenty-one Arab and Muslim countries have issued a joint statement condemning Israel’s recent airstrikes on Iran. The statement, released on Monday, calls for immediate de-escalation and respect for international law.

The initiative was spearheaded by Egypt following consultations between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his counterparts across the region. The coalition includes nations such as Türkiye, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Bahrain, Brunei, Chad, Gambia, Algeria, Comoros, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Egypt, and Mauritania.

The foreign ministers denounced the Israeli attacks on Iranian territory, labeling them a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. They emphasized the importance of respecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity, urging all parties to adhere to principles of good neighborliness and pursue peaceful resolutions.

“The deteriorating situation could have serious consequences for regional security and stability,” the statement warned. The countries called for an immediate halt to Israeli hostilities against Iran and advocated for comprehensive de-escalation efforts leading to a comprehensive ceasefire.

This collective stance highlights growing concerns in the region over escalating tensions and the potential for conflict spillover. The international community is watching closely as efforts to mediate and reduce hostilities continue.
