The recent China-Central Asia Summit held in Kazakhstan marked a significant step forward in enhancing regional connectivity between China and the Central Asian nations. Signing a Treaty for Lasting Friendship
A significant milestone was the signing of a treaty of permanent good-neighborliness and friendly cooperation. This treaty reaffirms the countries’ commitment to the principles of the United Nations Charter and underscores their support for each other’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. It solidifies the long-term partnership and dedication to peaceful coexistence.
Charting a Path Through High-Quality Development
The summit outlined a collaborative path forward by emphasizing high-quality joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative. The participants identified six priority areas: unimpeded trade, industrial investment, connectivity, green minerals, agricultural modernization, and people-to-people exchanges. To catalyze these efforts, China announced the establishment of cooperation centers focusing on poverty reduction, education exchange, and desertification control.

Recognizing the importance of modernization, all parties agreed to designate 2025 and 2026 as the “Year of High-quality Development of China-Central Asia Cooperation.” This initiative aims to accelerate development goals and deepen the strategic alignment between China and Central Asian nations.
