Renowned Kyrgyzstani filmmaker Aktan Arym Kubat has premiered his latest movie, “Black, Red, Yellow“, at this year’s Shanghai International Film Festival. The film is competing for the prestigious Golden Goblet Award, one of the highest honors at the festival.
Kubat, who served as a jury member at the festival two years ago, expressed his excitement about returning to Shanghai with his own work in competition. “It’s a great honor to have my film recognized here,” he said in an interview with CGTN.
He was also impressed by China’s booming film industry and its rapidly growing box office. “The growth of cinema in China is truly remarkable,” Kubat remarked. “It’s inspiring to see such a vibrant film culture.”
The director revealed his aspiration to make a film in China. “Making a film in China is my dream,” he shared. “The rich culture and diversity offer endless storytelling possibilities.”
“Black, Red, Yellow” explores themes of identity and tradition, resonating with audiences across cultures. Kubat hopes that his film will build bridges between Kyrgyzstan and China, fostering greater understanding and collaboration.
