Andre Luis Hat-Trick Propels Shanghai Shenhua Past Shanghai Port in CFA Cup Derby

In an electrifying derby that captivated football fans, Shanghai Shenhua emerged victorious over city rivals Shanghai Port with a thrilling 3-2 win, securing their spot in the Chinese FA Cup quarterfinals.

The match was a showcase of skill and determination, with Shenhua’s Brazilian forward Andre Luis stealing the spotlight by netting an impressive hat-trick—his first in his career. Captain Wu Xi was instrumental, providing all three assists and demonstrating exceptional leadership on the pitch.

The deadlock was broken just before halftime when Wu delivered a pinpoint cross from the left flank into a congested penalty area. Andre Luis soared above the defenders to head the ball home, giving Shenhua the lead.

Shanghai Port wasn’t ready to concede defeat. Early in the second half, Gabriel Souza, set up by a clever pass from Feng Jin, leveled the score, reigniting the contest.

Undeterred, Shenhua struck back swiftly. A free kick from Gao Tianyi glanced off Wu Xi and found its way to Andre Luis, who calmly slotted it in, regaining the lead for his team.

The drama intensified when Gustavo Henrique came off the bench for Shanghai Port and made an immediate impact by equalizing the score within a minute of entering the game.

But the night belonged to Andre Luis and Wu Xi. In the closing moments, Wu threaded a perfect pass to Luis, who completed his hat-trick with a decisive finish, sealing the hard-fought victory for Shanghai Shenhua.

With this win, Shanghai Shenhua advances to face Henan FC in the quarterfinals of the Chinese FA Cup.
