In a groundbreaking collaboration, the Tsinghua Heritage Institute for Digitization from the Chinese mainland is joining forces with Italy’s Civita to enhance digital preservation of cultural heritage. The partnership focuses on four innovative projects aimed at bringing historical sites and artifacts to life through technology.
The projects include a digital night tour of the Old Summer Palace—also known as Yuanmingyuan—allowing visitors to explore its rich history in a new light. Additionally, a state-of-the-art digital museum is being constructed in Beijing’s Shougang Park, offering immersive experiences that blend culture and technology.
Further strengthening cultural ties, an exhibition titled “China Pavilion” is set to open in Italy, showcasing China’s heritage through digital displays. The collaboration also extends to the “World Heritage 100” initiative, a global project aimed at digitally preserving and promoting 100 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
This Sino-Italian partnership represents a significant step toward international cooperation in cultural preservation, utilizing cutting-edge technology to make history accessible to people around the world.
