An art exhibition celebrating 55 years of diplomatic relations between China and Italy opened on Wednesday in Rome. Guided by Professor Chang Shana from the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University, the exhibition showcases over 200 works by more than 100 renowned contemporary Chinese artists alongside treasured Italian artworks from the Museum of Civilizations.
The exhibition highlights the unique and shared aspects of Chinese and Italian cultures. Visitors can admire traditional Chinese art forms such as calligraphy, painting, cloisonné, bamboo carving, embroidery, Yun brocade, jade carving, and paper cutting. In contrast, Italian exhibits include traditional clothing, ceramics, and bronze wares, offering a rich tapestry of both nations' artistic heritage.
China Media Group President Shen Haixiong, Italian Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara, Italian Football Federation President Gabriele Gravina, and Chinese Ambassador to Italy Jia Guide were among the notable figures who addressed the event. Over 200 prominent individuals from the political, economic, cultural, artistic, media, educational, film, and academic sectors of both countries attended the opening.
"China and Italy are both great nations with ancient histories and brilliant cultures," Shen remarked. "The exchange and mutual learning between our civilizations have never ceased. This exhibition allows the cultural treasures of both countries to transcend time and illuminate each other."
Valditara emphasized the importance of cultural cooperation between the two countries. "In recent years, Italy and China have witnessed vigorous and multi-dimensional cooperation in fields such as culture, education, sports, law, and film," he said. "This art exhibition highlights the rich and diverse cultural resources and artistic treasures of both countries, sparking enthusiasm and admiration among our peoples for each other's historical and cultural heritage."
The exhibition not only celebrates the past 55 years of diplomatic ties but also serves as a bridge connecting East and West, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation among young people and art enthusiasts alike.
