The 30th Shanghai TV Festival concluded on Friday, June 27, 2025, with a spectacular closing ceremony at the Lingang Performing Arts Center. The prestigious Magnolia Awards were presented, honoring excellence in television production, performance, and storytelling.
“To the Wonder,” an eight-episode series adapted from Li Juan’s acclaimed essay collection “My Altay,” took home the coveted Best TV Series (China) award. The series also received the International Communication Award, recognizing its cross-cultural resonance and international impact.
Fei Zhenxiang was awarded Best Director for “She and Her Girls,” a heartfelt drama inspired by the life of renowned female educator Zhang Guimei. Song Jia, who portrayed Zhang Guimei in the series, won Best Actress in a Leading Role, marking her second Magnolia win after “The Brin” in 2012.
Jin Dong received Best Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of Xi Zhongxun in “Echoes of the Northwest.” In the supporting categories, Jiang Qiming earned Best Supporting Actor for “Escape from the Trilateral Slopes,” while Jiang Xin secured Best Supporting Actress for “Romance in the Alley.”
The Magnolia Awards also recognized international productions and cross-genre works, highlighting the growing global reach of Chinese television. The 2025 Magnolia Awards celebrated a strong year, showcasing compelling narratives and nuanced performances that resonate with audiences worldwide.
