Seventy-five years after establishing diplomatic relations, China and Switzerland continue to deepen their partnership, focusing on ecotourism and sustainable development. The two nations have signed tourism agreements, opened tourism offices in each other’s countries, and celebrated the China-Switzerland Tourism Year in 2017.
At events like the Eco Forum Global Guiyang, both countries have engaged in dialogues to protect ecosystems and promote green, low-carbon development. Switzerland, known as the “Garden of the World,” offers advanced experience in developing ecotourism and sustainable travel. This expertise provides valuable insights for Guizhou, a mountainous province in southwest China.
Over the years, Guizhou has made significant strides in environmental protection. The province has strengthened its legal framework, initiated campaigns to return farmland to forests and grasslands, improved infrastructure, and developed ecotourism. Leveraging its stunning natural landscapes, Guizhou has established popular ecotourism destinations like Guiyang Guanshan Lake Park, Axilixi Scenic Area, and the Maolan Karst Forest.
The collaboration between China and Switzerland not only fosters mutual growth in tourism but also contributes to global efforts in environmental conservation. By sharing knowledge and resources, both nations are paving the way for a greener future.
