American Choirs Embrace Fuzhou’s Nightlife on Minjiang River Cruise

Under the shimmering lights of Fuzhou, American youth choirs embarked on a mesmerizing night cruise along the Minjiang River as part of the 2025 China–U.S. Youth Choir Festival. The river’s gentle currents carried melodies and laughter, echoing the vibrant cultural exchange between the two nations.

The festival, aiming to foster harmony and understanding through music, brought together young vocalists from across the United States to the heart of Fuzhou. As the cruise set sail, the participants were captivated by the city’s skyline, adorned with traditional architecture and modern illuminations.

“It’s like stepping into a dream,” said Lily Thompson, a 17-year-old soprano from New York. “The blend of ancient culture and modern life here is incredible. Singing on the Minjiang River is an experience I’ll never forget.”

The evening was filled with song and dance as the American choirs shared their repertoires and learned local folk songs from their Chinese counterparts. The exchange highlighted the universal language of music, bridging gaps and building friendships.

Organizers believe that such events play a crucial role in enhancing cultural understanding among youth. “This festival is not just about performances; it’s about creating lasting connections,” stated Chen Wei, the festival coordinator. “We hope these young artists carry the spirit of unity back to their communities.”

As the night cruise concluded, the glow of Fuzhou’s lights left an indelible mark on the visiting choirs. The harmony of voices and the beauty of the city coalesced into a memorable chapter of the China–U.S. Youth Choir Festival.
