In the heart of Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, 10-year-old Sara al-Barsh embodies resilience and hope. An air strike not only took away her father but also claimed both of her arms. Despite this unimaginable loss, Sara is creating her own miracle.
Using her feet, Sara has relearned how to navigate the world. She eats, drinks, writes, studies, and even takes care of herself—all with remarkable determination. “I may have lost my arms, but I haven’t lost my will to live,” she says, her eyes shining with strength beyond her years.
Every day, she attends school, eager to learn and be with her friends. Her classmates admire her courage and lend a hand when needed, but Sara strives for independence. “I want to show everyone that I can overcome any obstacle,” she asserts.
Sara’s greatest dream is to receive prosthetic arms. She aspires to become a prosthetist herself, aiming to help other children who have faced similar hardships. “I want to give others the ability to live their lives fully,” she shares. “Just like I’m learning to do.”
