At least 37 people have lost their lives and around 50 others have been wounded in intense clashes between Druze fighters and Bedouin tribes in Syria’s southern Sweida Province, according to reports from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The violence has escalated rapidly across several areas of Sweida, with the eastern al-Muqawwas neighborhood witnessing heavy gunfire and mutual shelling. The fighting has since spread to the western and northern countryside, causing widespread alarm among local residents.
Despite the severity of the situation, there has been no official intervention announced yet. Local community leaders are stepping in to mediate, striving to negotiate the release of detainees from both sides in hopes of deescalating the conflict.
Meanwhile, residents of Sweida remain on high alert, fearing further outbreaks of violence. The tense atmosphere has disrupted daily life, with many staying indoors to avoid the crossfire.
Footage has emerged showing a first-person perspective of the clashes, highlighting the intensity and proximity of the fighting. The situation remains volatile, and the international community is watching closely as events unfold.
