From Police Commander to Sports Advocate: Tang King-shing’s New Chapter

After a distinguished 35-year career in law enforcement, Tang King-shing has swapped his police badge for a mission to promote sports among Hong Kong’s youth and elderly. Once the police commander at the bustling Kai Tak Airport, Tang is now making waves at the Kai Tak Sports Park, the city’s newest hub for athletic excellence.

As the former Commissioner of Police, Tang was renowned for his leadership during some of the city’s most challenging times. “Serving at Kai Tak Airport was both demanding and rewarding,” he reflects. “But now, my focus is on uniting the community through sports.”

The Kai Tak Sports Park, built on the site of the old airport, symbolizes a new era for Hong Kong. With state-of-the-art facilities, it aims to nurture local talent and provide recreational spaces for all ages. Tang’s involvement brings a unique perspective, bridging security and community engagement.

“Sports have the power to inspire and connect people,” Tang explains. “We’re creating opportunities for young people to develop their skills and for seniors to lead active lifestyles.”

The city is embracing this revitalization, with residents eager to participate in new programs and events. Tang’s leadership is proving instrumental in turning the Sports Park into a beacon of hope and unity.
