China has embarked on an ambitious initiative to elevate vocational skills across the nation. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security announced a three-year campaign, running from 2025 to 2027, aiming to address critical talent shortages in manufacturing and service industries. Under the theme \”Skills Light Up the Future\”, the program focuses on cultivating skilled professionals in key sectors.
In line with this national vision, the \”Meet Your Future Self\” 2025 Summer Camp was successfully held in Beijing’s Chaoyang District. Organized by the district’s Vocational Training and Development Promotion Association, the camp provided primary and secondary school students with a hands-on introduction to future careers.
Interactive workshops like \”Little Coffee Connoisseurs\” taught students the art of hand-brewing coffee. In the \”Little Tea Ceremony Masters\” session, participants explored China’s traditional tea etiquette, experiencing the cultural significance of tea through the ritual of serving.
Other creative modules such as \”Photography Journalist\” and \”Collage Art Designer\” aimed to foster observational skills, artistic creativity, and an appreciation for the humanities.
A standout feature of the camp was its innovative Chinese-English bilingual teaching model, led by international students studying at Chinese colleges. This approach not only enhanced cross-cultural communication but also strengthened vocational knowledge among young Chinese students, laying a foundation for future global collaboration.
\”It’s one of the best things I’ve done,\” said Dennis Kiplagat Mutungwo, a Kenyan student in China who participated in the teaching sessions. \”Coming here today to understand what they’re doing and enjoy their company.\”
Looking ahead, China has set significant talent cultivation targets. According to a report from Xinhua News Agency, the country aims to develop a skilled workforce by 2035, including 2,000 national-level master artisans, 10,000 provincial-level master artisans, and 50,000 city-level master artisans, each equipped with advanced expertise and innovative thinking.
