A new Chinese-funded megaport just north of Lima is reshaping the coastal town of Chancay, turning it into a bustling hub for wholesale imports, especially from China.
The $1.3 billion project, strategically located along Peru’s central coast, is already making waves in the local economy. Retail businesses in the area are experiencing firsthand the benefits of this massive infrastructure development.
“This port is a game-changer for us,” says Maria Lopez, owner of a local electronics store. “We are seeing more products arriving faster and at better prices.”
