Tea Culture Shines at Beijing’s International Tea Trade Expo 2025

Bringing together leading tea enterprises from across China, the Beijing International Tea Trade Expo 2025, held in early July, drew crowds of tea lovers, distributors, buyers, and young enthusiasts eager to explore the richness of tea culture.

But it wasn’t just the tea that captivated visitors—exquisite teaware also took center stage. The seamless fusion of tea and teaware showcased the beauty of Eastern aesthetics, earning admiration from both connoisseurs and casual attendees. Visitors marveled at the intricate designs and craftsmanship that went into each teacup and teapot, reflecting centuries-old traditions.

Attendees also got to experience the timeless allure of Shoushan Stone, one of China’s revered “Four Great Seal Stones.” Originating from coastal Fujian Province, this exquisite stone is crafted into a variety of artistic decorations. Its vibrant hues and intricate patterns embody centuries of artistic heritage and cultural significance, captivating many at the expo.

A wide variety of cultural activities lit up the event. Highlights included a fashion show celebrating qipao, or cheongsam, made of Xiangyunsha—the world’s only silk fabric dyed exclusively with natural plant-based dyes. Traditional activities like a Song Dynasty-style tea gathering and a classic tea ceremony revival brought a dynamic blend of tradition, artistry, and modern engagement.

“I originally just wanted my child to experience tea culture, but I ended up being completely charmed by the exquisite teaware and the tea ceremony revival designed for children!” said Ms. Li, a visitor from Beijing’s Xicheng District. Holding a newly purchased teacup and a gift box of tea, she shared, “Tasting tea in person and these hands-on experiences are so much more engaging than just browsing online!”

The expo not only celebrated the depth of Chinese tea culture but also provided a platform for young people to connect with tradition in a contemporary setting. With interactive exhibits and engaging activities, the event highlighted how ancient customs continue to inspire and resonate with today’s youth.
