China Says Supports Solution to Cambodia thailand Clash in asean Way

China Backs ASEAN’s Peaceful Resolution to Cambodia-Thailand Conflict

China has expressed its support for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in mediating the ongoing dispute between Cambodia and Thailand. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized resolving the conflict through the “ASEAN Way” during a meeting with ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn in Beijing on Friday.

“The clashes between Cambodia and Thailand, which have resulted in casualties, are deeply distressing and concerning,” Wang said. He attributed the root of the issue to historical legacies left by Western colonialists and urged all parties to remain calm and handle the situation appropriately.

China appreciates and supports Malaysia, this year’s ASEAN chair, for its active mediation efforts. “We commend ASEAN’s initiative to promote dialogue, consultation, and a political resolution in the ‘ASEAN Way’,” Wang added.

As a neighboring country to both Cambodia and Thailand, China is committed to maintaining a fair and impartial stance. “We will continue to play a constructive role in de-escalating tensions and stabilizing the situation,” Wang affirmed.

ASEAN’s “Way” of mediation emphasizes consensus-building, non-interference, and peaceful dispute resolution, reflecting the organization’s commitment to regional stability.
