China Allocates Relief Supplies to Flood hit Hebei Shaanxi

China Rushes Aid to Flood-Hit Hebei and Shaanxi Provinces

Heavy rains have unleashed severe flooding in China’s Hebei and Shaanxi provinces, prompting authorities to dispatch 23,000 disaster relief items to aid affected communities.

On Friday, Chinese authorities allocated essential supplies, including folding beds and towel blankets, to support emergency relocation and relief efforts in the flood-stricken regions. The relief items were distributed by the Office of the National Commission for Disaster Prevention, Reduction and Relief, the Ministry of Emergency Management, and the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration.

Since Thursday, torrential downpours have battered areas such as Baoding and Chengde in Hebei Province, as well as Yulin and Yan’an in Shaanxi Province, leading to significant flooding and disruption.

The national observatory renewed a yellow alert for rainstorms on Friday morning, warning of continued heavy rainfall in several regions, including Hebei and Shaanxi. From 8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday, heavy rains and rainstorms were forecast to hit parts of Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Sichuan, Yunnan, Zhejiang, and Taiwan island, according to the National Meteorological Center.

China operates a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red being the most severe, followed by orange, yellow, and blue. The yellow alert signals that heavy rains are expected but are not yet at the most critical level.

As the severe weather continues, authorities are urging residents in affected areas to stay vigilant and follow safety guidelines. Emergency services remain on high alert to respond to any further developments.
