China and Turkmenistan have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in trade, energy, and cultural exchanges. This pledge was made during a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov in Chengdu, China.
Meredov visited China to attend the fifth China-Central Asia Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. Wang Yi emphasized the importance of continuing their traditional friendship and implementing the consensus reached by their heads of state. He highlighted the need to explore new ideas for mutually beneficial cooperation, make breakthroughs in energy partnerships, and strengthen people-to-people exchanges.
“China is willing to further expand the scale of trade and investment cooperation with Turkmenistan and will encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest in Turkmenistan,” Wang stated.
Meredov expressed Turkmenistan’s commitment to a lasting friendship with China. He emphasized the desire to maintain close high-level exchanges and promote cooperation, especially in their flagship natural gas trade project.
