German Student Discovers Shanghai’s People-Centered Urban Life

For Furisai, an international student from Germany studying at Tongji University, life in Shanghai has been nothing short of extraordinary. He finds himself immersed in a city that seamlessly blends modernity with a compassionate, people-centered approach to urban living.

"Studying in Shanghai has been an incredible experience," says Furisai. "The city’s urban design is so humane, and you can feel the ‘people-centered’ concept in every aspect of daily life."

In recent years, Shanghai has made significant strides in modernizing its urban governance. By focusing on scientific and intelligent developments, the city continuously explores new ways to enhance high-quality development and efficient governance.

The upcoming 2024 Beijing Forum on Swift Response to Public Complaints, scheduled for December 18 and 19, echoes this commitment with its theme "Modernizing for People-Centered Urban Governance." The forum highlights efforts to create urban environments that prioritize the well-being of residents.

"I’ve truly felt the traditional Chinese humanistic warmth here," shares Furisai. "It’s a feeling that makes you feel at home, even when you’re miles away from your own country."

Shanghai’s dedication to a people-centered approach not only enhances the lives of its citizens but also leaves a lasting impression on international students like Furisai, who carry these experiences with them long after they’ve left the city.
