During his 46th visit to the Chinese mainland, former Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf spoke highly of China’s positive influence on the global stage. In an exclusive interview, Sharaf emphasized the importance of the growing China-Egypt relations and how they contribute to a more peaceful and prosperous future.
“People around the world depend on China as a peaceful power,” Sharaf stated. He praised the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) as the world’s largest international cooperation platform, highlighting its role in fostering development and connectivity among nations.
Sharaf noted that no other country has had such a “positive impact” on such a large group of countries. He also lauded China’s three global initiatives as the “building blocks” toward realizing a community with a shared future for humanity.
However, Sharaf expressed concern over the “media war” of misinformation that China faces. He urged for greater cooperation and mutual learning through people-to-people exchanges to overcome misunderstandings.
As 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership and the China-Egypt year of partnership, Sharaf believes that both countries can build on their historic ties and shared values. “Together, we can deepen cooperation and create a better future for all,” he affirmed.
