China has urged India and Pakistan to exercise restraint as tensions between the two neighboring countries escalate. A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Saturday emphasized the importance of peace and stability in the region.
“We hope both India and Pakistan can act in the larger interest of regional peace and stability, exercise calm and restraint, return to the track of political settlement through peaceful means, and refrain from any action that could further escalate tensions,” the spokesperson said in response to a media inquiry.
The spokesperson added that this is also the expectation of the international community. “China is willing to continue to play a constructive role to this end,” they stated.
China is closely following the situation and is deeply concerned about the escalation. The call for restraint highlights the need for dialogue and peaceful resolution between the two nations.
